An incredible find!  This website has collected public domain recordings from most of the fathers of the blues.  We're talkingLeadbelly, Blind Willie Johnson, Bill Broonzy, Blind Willie McTell, Bukka White, Bo Carter, Charlie Patton, Mississippi John Hurt, Charley Jordan, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Memphis Minnie and Son House!  There's also Irving Berlin, Paul Whiteman & his Orchestra, Homer and Jethro, Charleston 7, Thomas Edison and more!  You can't even call yourself an amateur musicologist if you don't download these seminal recordings from the late 1800's through 1930's.  Check out Public Domain 4U and get edjookated.

1956-1960 Jukebox
1956 to 1960 Juke Box!  The top hits of 1956 through 1960 in mostly Windows Media (wma) format with some real player files.
 
 

 

 
Their player creates a playlist based on the input you give it, then lets you tweak the list.  I typed in The Rolling Stones and it played "I'm Free" by the Stones, "No Reply" by the Beatles, then "Sugar and Spice" by The Cryin' Shames based on the tonal qualities of the music.  It went on to "Bitch" by the Stones, a Blind Lemon song and so on.  You can then rate the items with a thumbs up or thumbs down to tweak what you're looking for.

(recorded by Thomas Edison.  It's a very old recording but considering it's age, it's got remarkable fidelity though you'll note some low frequencies are missing and there is some white noise in the background, much like the soundtrack of an old movie.

 Making of Honkin' on Bobo wmv video is available on >Aerosmith's Website<.  There are both high speed and low speed versions.  While the intention may have been to stream it, I right clicked and downloaded the video to watch it in my Window's Media Player since my connection is sooooo slooooow it wasn't feasible to watch it any other way.  The files are most of the way down the page.

Groups, this is a fan group for the band Badfinger....Remember them?  Well Joey Molland and the guys still have a rabid fan base centered around this group.  There are some rare Badfinger mp3's located in the files section that you won't find anywhere else.  Nice people there too!
